We are Ashton and Tanisha Fulcher, and we are the owners of La Mesa Christian Bookstore. We are both natives of San Diego, CA. We got married in 2013 and have three young, beautiful children. We met in 2010 while helping to plan an event for a local non-profit organization. We connected through our faith and our passion to serve others. Both of us have spent many years working with children, youth, young adults, and families as volunteers in the church and community, and as professionals employed with various organizations and agencies. 

 

We were friends with the previous bookstore owners, Jason and Eileen, who first opened the La Mesa Christian Bookstore in 2011. In 2014, our firstborn was stillborn. La Mesa Christian Bookstore is where my (Ashton) faith was strengthened and renewed, as I could often be found there studying the Word with the owners and others who were visiting the store. In March 2021, we purchased La Mesa Christian Bookstore from the previous owners and officially became the owners on April 1, 2021. 

 

We serve in other capacities in addition to managing the bookstore. We are members of Lakeview Community Church (in Chula Vista, CA) where Ashton serves as an associate minister. Ashton is also the Chief Executive Officer of Creative Flow Arts & Entertainment, a local non-profit organization. Tanisha is a marriage & family therapist for a local counseling center, Rhombus Counseling. Tanisha is also the owner of Beyond the Basics, through which she provides consultation and training to non-profit organizations, agencies, foster parents, and families.

 

The bookstore provides us with the opportunity to serve in a way that we never have before. We want to be a resource to the community whether you’re looking for a book, buying a gift, in need of prayer, or just a listening ear.
